CIRCUIT 05 IS OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS!

For the love of audio.
Audio Flux is a home for short-form, innovative audio and bold storytelling. We invite people far and wide to create three-minute “fluxworks” in response to a set of prompts. For each “circuit” we work with a creative partner who inspires these prompts. Learn more about and listen to our first four Circuits here.
Our creative partner for Circuit 05: In 3D is writer, comedian and 3D photography enthusiast, Eric Drysdale, who also curates and hosts the one-of-a-kind Midcentury Stereopanorama experience.
HOW THIS ALL WORKS:
In addition to commissioning four original works for Circuit 05, we welcome anyone and everyone to participate via our open call. Four submissions will be chosen as Circuit Selects from a pool of fifteen finalists. These four works will each be awarded $750 and debut at a special event this spring (more info coming soon) alongside the four commissioned fluxworks. Circuit Selects will also be featured on this site and in the upcoming Audio Flux podcast. Finalist producers will be celebrated widely in public and on this site. The deadline for submitting your fluxwork is April 1st, 2025.
The Circuit 05 theme (“In 3D”) and following prompts were designed with Eric and inspired by his love for 3D photography and his vast collection (30,000+ !) of stereoscopic slides.
Each fluxwork must:
Run exactly three minutes
Take inspiration from one of four 3D images curated from Eric’s collection and pictured below*
(Road closed, Amelia Earhart luggage, Office workers, Smalls nightclub)Include the sound of laughter
Immerse listeners in a place, through sound (stereo, spatial, binaural recordings encouraged!)
*The images are animated below as videos to help convey their 3-dimensionality, but you can also check out the anaglyph (red & blue) versions and stereoscopic (side by side) versions, which are best appreciated with the help of viewers like these!)

SUBMISSION DETAILS:
All formats and genres are welcome, as long as your submission follows the prompts listed above, and is an original production created for this Circuit. We recommend listening to fluxworks from Circuits 01 through 04 to get a sense for the range of style and approach these may take. Importantly: have fun.
Also: Everyone who submits a piece will receive a free, three-month trial membership to AIR, an invaluable (and awesome) resource for independent producers.
Your submission will include:
Mp3 audio file (if we select your work we’ll request a higher resolution audio format)
Title for your fluxwork
One sentence description
Brief bio (200 words max)
If your submission is chosen as a Circuit Select we’ll request an accompanying image. To this end, we encourage you to explore the world of 3D image-making, with apps such as PopPic (free) or Parallax (enjoy a free trial week) This is not mandatory, but… it’s definitely fun to play with these apps!
The fine print:
We’ll ask you to acknowledge reading our Official Rules before you submit, which include terms that are applicable only if your fluxwork is chosen as a Circuit Select.
Submissions will be accepted through April 1st, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
